Hi, I’m Flavio Soares – a Senior Database Engineer and DBRE with almost 20 years of experience working in critical data environments.
I’ve had the chance to work with some of the largest companies in Brazil, including major banks, telecom providers, and government institutions. I’ve also worked on global projects across the US. and Europe, collaborating with international teams and supporting critical database and infrastructure projects … including for one of the largest healthcare companies in the U.S. and the biggest airline in Ireland. These experiences have given me a strong global mindset and the ability to adapt to different challenges and environments.
My core expertise is databases, it’s where everything started for me and still what drives most of my work. I’ve worked with relational engines like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server, and more recently with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB and DynamoDB. Each technology pushed me to solve different kinds of problems … from performance bottlenecks and replication issues to designing for availability and scaling up through large migrations.
As the industry changed, so did my role … naturally expanding into the DevOps space, building automation pipelines, infrastructure as code, and deployment strategies using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions. I’ve worked across major cloud platforms … Azure, OCI, and especially AWS.
I created this blog to share my work, tests, and lessons learned … and to learn from others too, here you’ll find practical content about databases, DevOps, and cloud, based on real-world experience.
Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn – always happy to exchange ideas 🙂
